So finding a pumpkin to carve in February was a little more challenging then I thought it would be.  Luckily a friend had on that was from her own garden that ripened a little late and her daughter wouldn’t let her throw it out.  So when we went over for a playdate today I snuck the pumpkin into my car when she wasn’t looking, score.

Christian had just woken up from a nap so he wasn’t as into it at first.

image

But has time went on he got more into it, although he needed a spoon because he refused to get his hands dirty.

Here is a picture of our finished pumpkin and the silly pose Sariah insisted on making during it.

For her birthday Sariah was given a flower pot kit and we never got around to planting the flowers, so today was a good day to finish it when she picked plant flowers for today’s activity.

She carefully added the dirt to each pot.

Then counted out the seeds and added them to each one.

We put the pots in the kitchen window and Sariah is looking forward to seeing them bloom. Of course she wants them to bloom tomorrow so I guess she will be getting a lesson in patience as well as horticulture.

So in case you are wondering where Christian was during all this, well nap time struck again today.

Playing duck duck goose with only two people didn’t really sound like a lot of fun, so it was a good thing we had a few friends coming over to play today.

The kids didn’t exactly follow all the rules, but they sure did have a fun time playing.

For our surprise flower delivery we took flowers over to Auntie Mandy and Kaylee.

There was no one home so we left the surprise on the front porch.

Today’s scratch and sniff paintings smelled good enough to eat.  The recipe I used for making the scratch and sniff watercolors was easy.  Take a whole packet of Kool-aid and mix with two tablespoons of water. Then give the kids paint brushes and let them paint away.  Just know that the Kool-aid will stain their skin, but it will fade away with time.

image

Because Christian was dipping his brush in all the colors before painting his art smelled like a fruit salad instead of the grape, cherry, and fruit punch flavors we used. You could really smell the grape on Sariah’s paintings but it was hard to tell the difference between cheery and fruit punch. The next time we do this activity I will have to be sure to get more they three flavors of Kool-aid.

Grandma and Great Grandma watched the kids today so we did flying time before they got to our house so they didn’t have to worry about helping do our jar activity today.

In our house flying time is when I lay down on my back and put the kids on my feet to fly. They could “fly” all day, but Mommy’s legs are not strong enough for that.

Today’s pool noodle marble track was a big hit today, they kids could have played with it for hours.

image

Here is a video of the track in action.

I tried taking a picture as the marbles crossed the finish line bit they were going too fast for my camera to capture them.

The kids had fun getting their hands dirty after we taped off their names and they got to finger paint.  Christian’s name is too long so we went with Bubba instead.

image

The kids actually stayed pretty clean as they painted over their names.

They did get a little carried away with the paints though and the colors looked more black then anything else by the time they were finished.

image

Even though the paintings looked mostly black the names turned out looking pretty cool.

We had a play date at a park with some friends in Carlsbad today. But before we left we made binoculars for Sariah, Christian and their friends Gavin and Jackson.

image
We gave the boys their binoculars at the park and instead of going bird watching they went snake hunting ,guess that is more a boy activity. They did seem to like them though and they kept them on for most of the time they were riding their bikes around the park.

image

When we for back the the boys house Gavin took his art supplies out so he could decorate his binoculars too.

The kids had a great time visiting and playing with their friends today, it is great having such awesome friends.

Today was the second holiday movie in our jar with the kids picking watch a Thanksgiving movie as today’s activity.

image

Christian spent the movie watching time sleeping in his crib, while Sariah watch the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special.
